Light the Night

October 30th, 2010 by jnedley

On Saturday, October 2, Carter’s Crew joined hundreds of Greater Clevelanders at Progressive Field for Light the Night, the annual fundraising walk organized by the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society (LLS).  Numerous Light the Night walks are held during the fall by LLS chapters across the United States and Canada to raise funds for the research and patient services provided by the Society.

The event included a memorial service, plenty of food and music, inspirational speakers, and, for Carter’s Crew, a team picture (see below)!   Walkers received balloons with battery-powered lights, also, and were asked to illuminate them before the start of the walk down Ontario Street.  Seeing all those lights in the air must truly have been a touching sign of support for those battling this terrible affliction.  For us, it was a wonderful remembrance for what we lost to it.

According to the LLS, the event raised more than $256,000.

Thanks to Grandma Karlene and to the Anderson, Burdecki, and Sorenson families for  joining us on that cold, rainy evening.  And thanks to everyone who made a contribution to help us exceed our team goal of $1,500 (we raised $1,800).   We hope that you’ll all consider joining us next year.
