DVDs Delivered!

October 30th, 2010 by jnedley

Back in June we got a tour of the new pediatric-oncology unit at The Cleveland Clinic.  We found the rooms to be bright, fairly spacious and clean, and noticed that each was equipped with a wall-mounted flat-screen TV and DVD player.

But the nurses identified a small problem for us. The patients were asking if there were any DVDs for them to borrow.

So we decided to try to help them get a library started, and asked you to join us by donating any child- or teen-appropriate DVDs that you no longer wanted.

You came through — and then some.

On Tuesday, October 5, we delivered more than 200 DVDs to the unit (see picture above).  Now they’ve got everything from Blue’s Clues to The Pink Panther.  (And, of course, no DVD library is complete without at least four pristine, scratch-free copies of Elmo in Grouchland, Carter’s favorite.)

Special thanks go to Menorah Park and to Melissa Altman at FUNdamentals for their help collecting so many of the donations.

We’re still collecting DVDs, so if you have any that you’d like to donate please e-mail us.  We’d be happy to collect them from you, and to take them over on our next trip.
