Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26th, 2010 by jnedley

One of our heroes, her hands full of crayons and sippy cup, peruses the collection of coloring books.

A few weeks ago, we asked our friends at The Cleveland Clinic if there was anything we could do for the patients and families of the pediatric-oncology inpatient unit to show them they wouldn’t be forgotten on Thanksgiving Day.  They asked if we could provide some cold sandwiches for lunch.

So we made a few calls, and quickly collected some deli trays, potato chips, and soft drinks from three generous local businesses.  Lisa and a friend also prepared some delicious homemade desserts, and another friend sent us a big box full of new packs of crayons and coloring books for the kids.

We delivered everything to the unit on Thanksgiving Day, and spent a few pleasant hours with the patients and their families, as well the Clinic staff on duty.

Thanks to Alesci’s and to DiBella’s in Mentor for donating the sandwich trays, and to the Great Lakes Mall Giant Eagle for providing the soft drinks and potato chips.  Special thanks, also, to Chris Ross for preparing one of the desserts, and to Ilene Besso for donating the crayons and coloring books.  Finally, thanks to Kristin Jones, Administrator for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at the Clinic, for her help coordinating and staffing the event.

Best wishes from all of us at The Carter Nedley Foundation for a Happy Thanksgiving.
