New Cleveland Clinic Children's Gift - Improving patient experience
Two ways that we fulfill our mission are maximizing the quality of life for the kids we serve and improving the experience of their often-long stays in the hospital.
In recent years we have funded projects which we believe can achieve both ends. We believe that technology like gaming systems and facility enhancements – like our soon-to-be-arriving service dog – provide our heroes and their families with much-needed distraction and promote the greatest sense of normalcy possible.
Our newest project is our boldest statement yet in that direction. All the patient rooms in the hematology/oncology and bone-marrow transplant units at Cleveland Clinic Children’s are being outfitted with Microsoft XBox systems fully loaded with games – and this project will be funded fully by a gift from The Carter Nedley Foundation!
At more than $30,000, this is our largest gift to date. And, combined with our recent gift of Nintendo Switch systems to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s, this means every child being treated for cancer in a hospital in Cleveland now should have access to a gaming system!
Thanks to Adam Gundlah and Huma Moulvi at Cleveland Clinic Children’s for their collaboration and their support. Thanks, also, to the members of our advisory board for their invaluable guidance, and to our friends at the Cleveland Foundation for their hand in our continued growth.
Finally, thanks to all our dedicated and passionate supporters, who for more than fourteen years now have made it possible for us to honor the memory of our beloved son by doing incredible work like this.
We hope you’ll help us to continue serving children in Northeast Ohio affected by cancer, along with their families, and to continue enhancing patient experience at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio.
