Special Birthday Announcement #1
Today Carter would have been fourteen years old - just a year away from high school!
For the last two years we have honored him by announcing a gift to our friends at Cleveland Clinic Children’s to enhance patient and family experience. Last year we brought ARISE by SpellBound AR, a fun and clinically beneficial augmented-reality game, to the inpatient cancer unit. And in 2019, we provided X-Box game systems for each of the nearly thirty infusion rooms in their outpatient building, helping to keep patients happy during the long hours spent receiving medicine and blood products.
This year is no different. The Carter Nedley Foundation is making a gift to Cleveland Clinic Children's in support of its Art and Music Therapy Fund!

In this video, our caregivers and patients sing and dance to the Dan + Shay song.
The art and music therapists at Cleveland Clinic Children's are fully integrated members of a child's care team, and are trained in child development and psychology, as well as their respective creative modalities. They provide opportunities for patients to express themselves and relax, mitigating their pain, decreasing anxiety and improving both mood and coping skills. Supplies are expensive, and, with increased COVID precautions, often can be used only once.
Our gift will enable Cleveland Clinic Children's to purchase art supplies such as paints, clay and Play-Doh, items for scrapbooking, craft kits, beads and charms, and music supplies such as songbooks and other instructional materials, child- and family-friendly CDs, portable electronic drum sets and other musical instruments.
